During the recent very hot weather (which is forecast to continue, and repeat), we have taken or will be taking the following measures to manage the Fishery;
- Continue to take daily water temperature readings (as per the Rules https://www.frenshamtroutfishery.com/fishery-rules if the water temperature exceeds 17/18 °C, we may need to temporarily close the Fishery)
- Ensure that all pipes, culvert, weirs and sluices are kept free of debris to ensure free-flowing water that is well oxygenated
- Carefully manage rod numbers and block out rest days
- Restrict Catch & Release fishing
- Open up earlier in the morning and close later in the evening (and close during mid-day) to take advantage of cooler temperatures
We are very fortunate to have a lot of shade and well oxygenated water at Frensham, but even we are likely to be affected by prolonged hot weather periods which are becoming more and more common. It goes without saying that we will do everything that we can to support our visitors and protect our fish stocks.
