Baguettes & Cakes – Saturday & Sunday (29.06 & 30.06.24)
To supplement the continued good fishing conditions, Shirley will be offering her usual catering services on the last weekend of the month. If you needed another reason to visit Frensham, now you’ve got one!
Father’s Day (Sunday 16.06.24)
It’s a great idea to give your Dad a Father’s Day fly fishing experience this year. He could be a seasoned fly fisherman or a complete novice (who needs tuition and equipment). It’s really easy to buy a gift voucher or a coupon [see Book Fishing page]. If you need some help to discuss the options, then please feel free to call me on m: 07376 780209.

Early May Bank Holiday weekend
We are pleased to say that we will be open as usual on Monday 6th May. We are stocking in the next few days and will be serving refreshments (as per the previous newsposts) 4th to 6th May – Saturday/Sunday/Monday. It should be a great Bank Holiday weekend! Matt
News update (stocking and other matters)
May stocking programme:
In line with our ongoing policy, and to ensure the best possible fishing conditions for this year’s Mayfly hatch, there will 3 stockings in May. Further information will be provided about exact timings etc. during the course of the month.
Major maintenance works:
We are pleased to advise that the back access track to the Lodge has now been reinstated, along with additional land drainage. This has resolved the problems caused by ground water penetration / the excessive rainfall that we have experienced, in particular during the last 12-18 months.
For the same reasons, a new culvert has been installed at the lower end of Kingfisher Lake.
Refreshments:
Unfortunately we have had to postpone this weekend’s catering (baguettes and cakes, as per the newspost below). This will be rescheduled as soon as we can in May. Watch this space………..
Tight lines, Matt
Its snack time at Frensham

Further details are provided in the newspost dated 21.03.24 below.
Bon appetit encore. Matt
Stocking update
To make sure the lakes are fully stocked during the high season, I am pleased to say that the next regular stocking is going ahead on 19th April.
The following flies appear to be working at the moment – natural nymph, emergers, dry sedge and dark upwinged patterns. As always, I will be on hand to advise and assist, and a variety of flies will be available to purchase on the day, if required.
Tight lines, Matt.
It’s baguette time again

Spring is in the air / Trout are in the lakes
I’m pleased to advise that we’ve just had our first major stock of the year earlier today (15th March). This included c240 fish, all 4 main species – browns, rainbows, tigers and spartics (including a few 4/5 lb’ers ). Water conditions are good and there has been a noticeable increase in insect activity. All-in-all a perfect combination for some great fly fishing.
Tight lines,
Matt Carroll (Fishery Manager)
Fly tying
Fly tying is an interesting and important part of fly fishing. Getting the flies right/matching the hatch can have a significant impact on a successful day’s fishing, or otherwise. Our good friend and regular visitor to Frensham, Tim Glass (pictured) demonstrated his excellent skills at a small event we held recently. For more information please feel free to contact me. Matt Carroll
Stocking and more………..
In line with our policy of continually reviewing our stocking policy, we would like to give you the heads-up on the following:
- We have established relations with more locally based suppliers (in order to strengthen our supply chain) – the early results are promising!
- We are now stocking more larger fish (typically 4-6lbs), as well as the regular 2-3lb’ers
- Our species range includes Browns, Rainbows, Spartics and Tigers (we are no longer stocking Blues, as we find these tend to be more fickle and deteriorate quicker)
- All Browns are to be released (stocked and wild)
Weatherwise, with more constant water levels as well as air/water temperatures (both day and night), fishing conditions are holding up very well indeed.
Hope to see you soon.
